2022 University Finswimming World Cup awarded to Italy

1 min read

The Executive Committee of FISU (International University Sports Federation) has entrusted CUSI (Italian Sports University Centre) and, consequently, FIPSAS with the organisation of the 1st Finswimming University World Cup. The event will take place in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Udine), at the Bella Italia Sports Village, from 30 March to 3 April 2022.

An ad hoc Organising Committee called “World Cup University Finswimming 2022” has been established for the conduct of this prestigious event. It will consist of FIPSAS President Ugo Claudio Matteoli (President), the President of the FIPSAS Underwater Activities and Finswimming Sector Carlo Allegrini (Deputy President), the President of CUS Udine Gian Luca Bianchi (Deputy President) and the members of the Underwater Activities and Finswimming Sector Committee Andrea Mangherini, Stefano Manzi, Massimiliano Popaiz and Luca Tonelli (Members).

It should be noted that Italy’s bid — for the official submission of which President Matteoli has established a fruitful collaboration with the President of the CUSI, Antonio Dima — was strongly supported by the CMAS, clearly showing the utmost confidence in FIPSAS organisational skills.

After all, this event is of crucial importance also for CMAS, since it may help Finswimming to be included in the programme of the World University Championships.
